CN Power, Toronto Roller Derby’s All-Stars, return to WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs this October for the 3rd straight year! They’ve been tearing up the track all year, both at home and on the road, and go into Playoffs ranked 32nd in the world by the WFTDA, a fantastic achievement! (go here to see all the scores from 2015) But it’s not over yet – now they have a big trip ahead of them, as they head to Omaha, Nebraska to take on more of the WFTDA’s best. Those of us staying home in Toronto will be watching all the action on wftda.tv, and doing our own CN Power poses, as we cheer on the best that Toronto has to offer as they take on the world! Read on to learn more about Omaha and the 2015 International WFTDA Playoffs from the WFTDA:
The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) announced on July 15 that Toronto Roller Derby’s CN Power qualified for the 2015 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs in Omaha, Nebraska, Oct. 2-4 as the #8 seed, and ranked #32 overall. The tournament seeding reflects the June 30 WFTDA rankings, which were based on sanctioned games played through that date.
Marking its 10th year of pushing the sport’s athleticism and competition to new heights, the International WFTDA Playoffs and Championships bring together the most talented, highly trained skaters and teams from WFTDA member leagues. Whether participating on the track, cheering in the stands or watching online, WFTDA tournaments provide everyone who loves roller derby an opportunity to witness the most anticipated match-ups of the year.
The following teams will be joining Toronto in Omaha on Oct. 2-4 to compete for a spot at the WFTDA Championships in November. The top three teams from each of the four international D1 Playoffs will advance to Championships to compete for the sport’s highest honor: the Hydra trophy and the title of WFTDA Champions.
