WFTDA North Central Regionals this weekend

In the derby world, it’s regionals time! The past 3 weekends have seen the top 10 teams in the East, West, and South Central regionals compete for their chance to go to Nationals. This weekend, it’s North Central’s turn – which is our division! While ToRD is not participating in the regionals this year, our travel team CN Power is working their butts off to get there in the future!

The following North Central leagues are competing this weekend:
1) Windy City Rollers
2) Detroit Derby Girls
3) Minnesota RollerGirls
4) Naptown Roller Girls
5) Cincinnati Rollergirls
6) Mad Rollin’ Dolls
7) Brewcity Bruisers
8 ) Arch Rival Roller Girls
9) The Chicago Outfit
10) Ohio Roller Girls

The event is streaming online all weekend, both in free and HD versions. If you’d like to check out the competition, head on over for some great roller derby!

As per usual, we will be running a 50/50 draw, with the winner selected at halftime. The past two 50/50 draws have raised almost 500$ each for their cause! This bout, we will be supporting Making Faces. They are a non-profit organization that helps children with facial differences. They provide workshops that teach acting skills and improvisational games to both build confidence and develop important life skills. The children practice eye contact, voice projection, public speaking and creative storytelling and are encouraged to use their voices and express themselves in a fun, creative and safe environment. The games build their confidence and make them feel good about who they are and what they can achieve. Buy some tickets, win some cash, and think of the children!!

The bout afterparty will be hosted at Neutral – 394A College St, Toronto ON (at Augusta). It’s a 90’s theme party! Wait… they run 90’s theme parties now????? I feel so old.

3) TTC bus routes are still being cut (including ours) – even while some people make motions to declare it an “essential service”. The worst part? Most riders still don’t know they’re going to lose their bus route. We’ve got posters and handouts you can print to help inform the masses! TTC Closures on Feb 5th

Heads up fans! Due to track maintenance, the subway will not be running between Wilson and Downsview stations on the day of the season opener (Feb 5th). The subway will be replaced by frequent shuttle bus service between the two stations.

Official TTC notice

The conspiracy theorist in me says that this is a plot to make ridership on the 101 Parc Downsview Park low, so they can cancel it. Is there truth to that? I don’t know.

We’re still running the $3 off the door price promo!! Bring a February 5th transfer from ANY TTC vehicle/route and pay only 15$ at the door!
