For those of you that can’t get enough Toronto Roller Derby and Physics, tune into Daily Planet on the Discovery Channel tomorrow (Wednesday), March 17, 2010 at 7:00pm and 11:00 pm EST.

For The Daily Planet’s Wild Sports Week the hostess with the mostest, Ziya Tong, straps on some skates and smelly gear and chats with Shera Venge about the physics of roller derby. Focusing on the hard hits and speed, titmouse and Speedin Hawking show how their skills utilize the laws of physics to be an effective athlete. Filmed at ToRD’s very own Hangar in Downsview Park this is sure to be the wildest sport they show this week! Don’t miss it!

ToRD wants to send a special shout out to Amanda Buckiewicz and Ziya Tong for all their amazing work and look forward to seeing them both on skates in the near future!

WE’RE NOT LAST!! WE’RE NOT LAST!!

Last Sunday, 4 lovely ToRD ladies voluntarily participated in CBC’s Test The Nation as members of the Contact Sports Athletes team. They lent all their brain power to help carry the team to tie for 4th place. Well done ladies!! Check out how they did!

ToRD is happy to have skaters representing the league as part of the Contact Sports Athletes team on Test The Nation, LIVE this Sunday at 8pm on CBC Television!!

Look for skaters Candy Crossbones, Demolition Dawn, Downright Dirty Dawson and Speedin’ Hawking on the Athlete’s bench, and a special appearance by Cherri Nova, Lady Gagya, Seka Destroy, Monichrome, Kung Fu Kitty, Brin Stone and Hum Dinger!!

Test The Nation is an interactive IQ test that pits 6 teams of stereotypes against each other and the viewing audience. You can play along at home online or with pen and paper. Compare your score against the Politicians, Nerds, Twins, Atheists, Believers, and Contact Sports Athletes! It’s hosted by (the incredibly dreamy) George Stroumboulopoulos and Carole MacNeil, so there’s eye candy if you’re not into the whole test thing.
